Salisbury Council supports the Asbestos Victims Association Memorial Ceremony

AVA was invited to speak on PBA FM 89.7 about the impact of asbestos and to promote the Memorial Ceremony to be held at Pitman Park on 26 November 2021 from 10.30 am to 11.30 am.

Once again Salisbury Council is supporting the AVA Memorial Ceremony. A great deal of planning goes into this event, from organising speakers, confirming which politicians will attend and making sure there are flowers available should anyone wish to place a flower on a cross. This year the speakers will be Dennis Hood MLC (on behalf of premier Steven Marshall and Rob Lucas MLC), Senator the Hon. Penny Wong and Peter Malinauskas MP. Dr Ash Hocking from the Doug Henderson Asbestos Research Centre will talk about her work and two family members will relate the impact of losing a much-loved grandfather.

There will be a marquee for shade & rain protection and seating for those who need it. The Pipes and Drums of the Royal Caledonian Pipers will be there, a feature of every ceremony. There will be a BBQ at the end of the service – thanks to retired union members for doing this.

The Memorial Ceremony will be held in Pitman Park, Salisbury, on 26 November 2021 at 10.30 am. We invite you and your family and friends to attend the annual service to remember or reflect on the needless loss suffered by many because of asbestos. You are very welcome to lay flowers in memory.

National Asbestos Week runs from 22 to 26 November this year and services will be held around the country, including at Whyalla.

COVID precautions will be taken on the day.
